Green thumbs win a Barossa break
Blackwood Park residents Julie and Ray Shiell have turned their green thumbs into a weekend in the Barossa, after winning the Blackwood Park 2011 Spring Garden Competition.
Guest judge and 5AA gardening expert, Michael Keelan, congratulated the Carraway Court couple for establishing a beautiful yet relatively easy to maintain garden.
Mr Keelan noted their excellent plant selection, and standout features such as the low bookleaf stone garden edging, and the use of a home-made adjustable solar panel to power the fountain.
For their efforts, the Shiells won a weekend trip for two to the luxury country retreat, The Louise in the Barossa Valley.
