Spring 2012Leadbeaters enjoy Blackwood Park welcome
Since moving in to a spacious home in Blackwood Park just three months ago, Dawn Leadbeater says one of her favourite things to do is relax on the balcony enjoying the spectacular views out over the reserve.
Dawn and husband Adrian, along with their children Sam and Chloe, moved to South Australia from the UK three years ago.
Originally from leafy Staffordshire, one of the first things they did after settling in to their new life in Adelaide was purchase a block of land in Blackwood Park.
“We were drawn to the stunning views and lush greenery which reminded us of home,” she says.
The family’s home opens out on to a park and features striking views of the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park.
Dawn says the family has been making the most of the local reserves and cycling trails.
“My husband and the kids have been cycling quite regularly. I tend to prefer sitting on the balcony with a glass of South Australian wine!” Dawn says with a laugh.
“Balcony’s aren’t very common in UK homes –
and if they were you wouldn’t get to use them because of the weather. I’m looking forward to the warmer weather to spend more time on our balcony enjoying the amazing views.”
The family built their two-storey dream home with Rossdale Homes. When the family first moved to Adelaide, they were renting a unit. Dawn says she very much appreciates the extra space that their new home provides, including a sizeable ensuite.
The Leadbeaters are enjoying life in Blackwood Park, particularly the ‘community feel’ that the area provides.
“There are lots of open spaces and all the nearby
schools and facilities are all great.
“We’ve been getting on really well with the neighbours. They’re all lovely and have been very welcoming.
“There’s a real community feel in Blackwood Park. We’re very happy here.”
