FAMILY THE FOCUS FOR YOUNG COUPLE’S DREAM HOME

When newlyweds Chantel and James bought their 1600 square metre Blackwood Park block in May, they set out on a mission to design the perfect family home.
“The block size was a massive selling point and being close to the new Treetop Park was an added bonus as it meant we could build a spacious family home ready for the next phase of our lives,” Chantel says.
“Since that time, we’ve been working tirelessly with builders to design a home that takes all this into account and makes the best use of the block and its outlook.”
The couple are still in the design phase of the project, but they know the home will incorporate features which make entertaining – and living with kids – a breeze.
“One thing we’ve been clear about is that we want a family and we want to be able to entertain at home,” Chantel says.
“We are big entertainers already, so bringing the outside in with lots of glass, air flow, wide stacking doors, multiple living areas and a lap-pool was a design focus.
“For the exterior, we’re looking at white render, black framing and elements of timber.”
Both Chantel and James grew up in area and sold their first home in Coromandel Valley to purchase the block.
At Blackwood Park, they’re close to family and friends as well as amenities and schools. “It’s only 20 minutes from the city, but feels like you’re in the country, although everything we need is nearby,” Chantel says.
“Compared to some other estates, Blackwood Park has larger blocks, views, trees and wildlife – and walking trails for us and our German Shepherd Frankie.
“Having visited all the other estates, Blackwood Park is the perfect fit for us.”
With nephew Charlie already keen to try out the new adventure playground at Treetop Park, it’s only a matter of time before Chantel and James expect to be enjoying everything Blackwood Park and their new home has to offer.
“Charlie lives nearby in Blackwood and can’t wait to visit the park – and hopefully we’ll be taking or own children there in the not too distant future,” Chantel said.
